We are pleased to welcome a new addition to the Grapevine team: Petra Wilson, our Data Privacy, Compliance and Governance Advisor.

Petra is no stranger to the world of Health, and brings over 20 years of experience! She served in various positions, on both the patient and provider side, and will strengthen our project by adding value through her expertise in digital health policy and strategy.

At Grapevine, she will primarily focus on ensuring the compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the upcoming ePrivacy Regulation. Petra will draw on her 8 years of experience in the European Commission, where she focused primarily on the data protection in healthcare and the application of the Data Protection Directive in the eHealth sector.

Currently, Petra Wilson is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Health Connect Partners, is a Certified International Privacy Professional (CIPP/E), and holds a Doctorate in Public Health Law from Oxford University.

Petra’s previous experience includes serving as a Senior Director of Connected Health at Cisco, where she overlooked a team that supported clients in making the best use of new communications technologies to drive safer and more efficient access to healthcare. Petra also served as the CEO of the International Diabetes Federation where she gained insight into the policy and politics of one of the world’s most prevalent chronic diseases and worked with policy makers at national, European and global level to address the needs of diabetic patients. Earlier in her career, Petra served as a Deputy Director of the European Health Management Association, driving engagements to inform and support healthcare providers. Petra also holds a Doctorate in Public Health Law from Oxford University. Her doctoral work addressed the role of public health law in fighting the then emerging AIDS epidemic, and developed theories on how to drive change in treatment of people living with HIV from the policy and legal perspective.

Petra says, “I am delighted to serve on the Grapevine Advisory Board, and to be part of the exciting initiative which provides a dynamic, secure and exciting model for liberating health data to fuel the change in health systems around the world that are needed so badly. Data is the fuel of the digital health revolution in which we are living. It is the raw material through which more personalised, more efficient and more responsive health systems can be developed. I am delighted to serve on the Grapevine Advisory Board, and to be part of the exciting initiative which provides a dynamic, secure and exciting model for liberating health data to fuel the change in health systems around the world that are needed so badly.”
